What’s up, friend? Are you in need of rest? Do you struggle with taking the time to do it? I know I do! Like, what is a Sabbath?

Well, while I won’t be diving into that topic today. Instead, I am going to dig into the verse the Lord gave me at the beginning of the season of REST He has me in.

Yes, REST is what I am working through myself. I don’t have it all figured out, so I hope that, as I share more about it with you, you can hear HIS gentle whisper and respond with eagerness and excitement.

I didn’t know I needed rest until the Lord showed me.

It started at the beginning of the summer. I remember reaching out to some friends for prayer and one friend, shout out to Saira, sent me a few verses that touch on this. I did not do much with those verses lol but I tried to slow down as much as I could at that time.

04:10 – The event that made me decide to start a study on rest, and the inspiration for this episode

Someone in my podcast mastermind brought up rest and described me perfectly. I felt seen lol after that, I connect with my podcaster friend and she says, “You know, during my quiet time, the word REST came to mind.” And I was like…THAT’S IT. The next day, I turn to a podcast I listen to and the verse – Psalm 46:10 – comes up, and the episode is on REST.

God made it abundantly clear!

1 God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
3 though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.
4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy place where the Most High dwells.
5 God is within her, she will not fall;
God will help her at break of day.
6 Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
he lifts his voice, the earth melts.
7 The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
8 Come and see what the Lord has done,
the desolations he has brought on the earth.
9 He makes wars cease
to the ends of the earth.
He breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
he burns the shields[d] with fire.
10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;

10:53 – The sons of Korah
The sons of Korah are Levites. These are the descendants of the very man who was swallowed whole by the earth after they rebelled against Moses (Numbers 16:1-40).

11:51 – Psalm 46 is divided into three sections, each of which ends with SELAH

12:33 – What stood out to me most about Psalm 46

The Psalm opens up by stating GOD IS WITH US IN EVER PRESENT TROUBLE.

Trouble is always there. The rest of the Psalm describes many different ways we might encounter trouble. But it is to say that we are going to go through things and God will be there through them. So, we don’t have to fear.

14:06 – Where the Holy Spirit dwells

As I consider the entire backstory and the verse in context, I am reminded that the battles, enemies, and natural disasters – everything that we might be worried about, everything we might try to be prepared for and hurriedly work to overcome – is already conquered by the LORD because HE IS GOD.

16:07 – What the Lord is showing me through the verse

The Lord is showing me how I could trust Him in other areas of my life except in the everyday things that I just wouldn’t lay down for a day. Things like laundry, cleaning, and business. Everything was just a constant marathon, a never-ending battle that I wouldn’t trust Him to lead me through. His strategy is not like the world’s strategy. He isn’t on that #nodaysoff boat. He took a day when He created the heavens and the earth, and He commands us to do the same.

What you need to do: Whatever you are struggling with laying down, whatever you are holding on to, whatever you think you need to work on every day, trust Him with that thing. He is trustworthy and He loves you.
