We covered a lot this week. I think, on average, each session was about 18 minutes. You can still catch up at our Facebook group! You can work out this on your own time and pace.
04:00 – Naomi’s plan to help Ruth get married
06:49 – Ruth is blindly following Naomi’s lead
Essentially, Ruth is giving up her happiness to be obedient, take care of her mother-in-law, and do the right thing. She is a woman of noble character. She is the godly woman described in Proverbs 31.
08:17 – Question #1: Would you sacrifice your own happiness for the sake of your family?
All throughout the book, we see Ruth love and serve unconditionally, much like Jesus. She is an example of a woman who is willing to go the extra mile for her mother-in-law – to take care of her with no guarantee that there will be a reward.
09:08 – The reward that awaits Ruth
09:36 – Question #2: Would you trust the Lord enough that He would provide even if you don’t experience immediate happiness?
09:55 – The eternal perspective and how I think about things
In heaven, there will be no suffering, no sorrow. Thinking about it makes the pain of today a little easier to bear. Sometimes the pain is in the form of discomfort. Sometimes it is in the form of dissatisfaction. But whatever it is, it is temporary because this world is temporary.
10:41 – Naomi’s answered prayer
11:26 – The law of redemption is spelled out (Leviticus 25:47-55)
12:07 – Question #3: Would you sacrifice your own temporary happiness for an eternal reward so you can honor the Lord and be a woman of noble character?
