02.12 – I have this sting of shame, guilt, complete dissatisfaction, and shaking my head at myself even after I had accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior.
04.25 – The definition of shame according to Lexico.com
Shame – A painful feeling of humiliation or distress caused by the consciousness of wrong or foolish behavior.
What the Word says: “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has gone, the new has come!” 2 Cor 5:17
09.51 – A Maskil of Asaph – The Hebrew root of this word [maskil] is sakal, which means “to have insight, to teach.” Gotquestions.org says this is meant to be meditative or impart wisdom.
10.51 – Anxiety is an affliction.
What the Word says: “Do not let the oppressed turn away in shame; let the poor and needy praise your name.” Psalm 74:21
“Let not the oppressed” → dak, dak; from an unused root (compare H1794); crushed, i.e. (figuratively) injured:—afflicted, oppressed.
“Dishonored” → kâlam, kaw-lawm’; a primitive root; properly, to wound; but only figuratively, to taunt or insult:—be (make) ashamed, blush, be confounded, be put to confusion, hurt, reproach, (do, put to) shame.
“Let the afflicted” → ʻânîy, aw-nee’; from H6031; (practically the same as H6035, although the margin constantly disputes this, making H6035 subjective and objective); depressed, in mind or circumstances:—afflicted, humble, lowly, needy, poor.
“Praise” → hâlal, haw-lal’; a primitive root; to be clear (orig. of sound, but usually of color); to shine; hence, to make a show, to boast; and thus to be (clamorously) foolish; to rave; causatively, to celebrate; also to stultify:—(make) boast (self), celebrate, commend, (deal, make), fool(-ish, -ly), glory, give (light), be (make, feign self) mad (against), give in marriage, (sing, be worthy of) praise, rage, renowned, shine.
17.13 – My prayer is that you do not identify with your mistakes in the past.
What to Do if You Are Struggling With Shame:
18.38 – Grab your nearest sister/brother in Christ or someone you trust and confess your sins.
20.24 – Let it go. You have to be willing to say no to yourself when you want to go down the path of tearing yourself apart.
When you are tempted to indulge thoughts of the past, reject those moments and stand in the truth that you are a new creation in Christ.
Confessing your sins to another person frees you from the guilt and shame of the past.
Your past does not define who you are. It is your identity in Christ that defines who you are.
