This is not to give a stamp of approval on Jonah’s behavior or any of us, especially when we are going out of our way to be disobedient and choose something else over God. This IS to say that God is consistent in extending unmerited favor to us. It simply speaks to HIS character and highlights how much more we need Him; and how much more we can and should trust Him.
06.38 – My takeaway from Jonah Chapter 1
Key Takeaway:
-
You might choose to separate yourself from the Lord… you might find yourself in a season of struggling to WANT what God wants for you… you might not understand or be at peace with enduring the hardships you are facing – maybe because you think it isn’t fair or just don’t see God’s hand in it. You aren’t the first and won’t be the last person to experience this. The first chapter of Jonah just illustrates how even when we don’t see or understand His will… even when we run in the opposite direction… He still provides for our needs. He still loves and cares for us. So when you are on the struggle bus, feeling anxious, angry, or just defeated, “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7
